December 22, 2009 - December 23, 2009, the Americas experienced a glitch for 8-12 hours. RIM has made an official apology. The BlackBerry community had to resort to actually calling friends or using the dreaded SMS messaging! Can you imagine how retro that is? So 1990s!!! All jokes aside, they claim it was due to BBM and the quick release of the updates. Nevertheless, ironically they released another release to fix the glitch caused by the two prior releases haha. BBM 5.7 has been released this morning. To download it, please visit blackberry(dot)com/messenger for the latest version

Cheers!

5.0.0.56 was causing problems. I'm going to guess something with the coding and bandwidth but with 5.0.0.57, it fixes it. hopefully. At least RIM said it was something with their product and not blaming customer and issued an quick immediate fix.
I remember when AT&T said their 3G isn't as good as it was claimed to be because everyone was using it and causing bandwidth issues and told customers to lower down their web/data usage.
